Here at ProGreen we are doing our best to make a positive
environmental impact. We have recently introduced artificial grasses that can
be completely recycled after their +/- 20 year life cycle. Most importantly, by
the very nature artificial grass, we are helping our customers to reduce their
overall water consumption. In 2009 we sold over 45,000 lbs of product
made from 100% recycled material. We also sweat
the small stuff; in the office we choose recycled paper and once the front is
printed we use the blank, backside for in-office use. We also communicate
electronically whenever possible to avoid printing unnecessary documents. Our
crews also map out the most direct and efficient routes while doing
installations to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
As a society we’re
wasting one of our most prized resources by watering our lawns, playgrounds and
athletic fields. Half of a household's warm weather water usage goes into
watering the lawn. According to the Irvine Ranch Water District, the
installation of a 750 square foot synthetic lawn can save approximately 22,000
gallons of water per year. ProGreen Synthetic Grass gives you the look and
feel of grass, without using water to keep it looking beautiful! ProGreen Grass
also eliminates the need for gas powered mowers, trimmers and aerators. By
installing ProGreen Grass, overall dependence on oil is reduced and our
watersheds are spared from spilt fuel while clumsily trying to fill up the lawn
mower and trimmer. ProGreen Grass doesn’t require fertilizers or toxic anti-weed
chemicals which are harmful to our environment.

This is the trailer to Blue Gold, a film about the state of our world-wide water supply. ProGreen has not verified all the facts in this film, nor do we necessarily support all the opinions expressed within the film. Although, we do whole-heartedly support water conservation on both a local and a global level. You can see more clips of this film on youtube.com and it is also available through netflix.com. |
According to the
Association of Synthetic Grass Installers, the natural lawn industry
represents the 5th largest "crop" that is grown in America, larger than
wheat, soy and other staple grains!*

Can Synthetic grass really be ecologically friendly?! When you mention the word
synthetic, ecologically friendly isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to
mind. And while that may be true with most synthetic grass, ProGreen Grass offers the
most economically and ecologically sensible synthetic grass on the market. Both
our EnviroCel™ and BioCel™ backings incorporate post-consumer recycled PET
plastic from soft drink and water bottles; contain rapidly renewable and
recycled materials; range from 55% to 85% green by weight; and contribute to the
U.S. Green Building Council's LEED totals. And because these backings are made with soy, this means increased
soybean production, which helps improve air quality by consuming CO² from the
atmosphere. BioCel™ is listed as an environmentally preferred product and can be submitted under General Services Administration's SIN31-601. Our partner, Universal Textiles
(maker of carpet backing systems) is listed in the U.S. Federal Agency's BioPreferred program.
We have introduced the first 100 % recyclable synthetic turf products - products
which have undetectable amounts of lead and are "in-filled" with Organafill: a proprietary
composite of organic and inorganic material that is coated with an
anti-microbial agent that meets both health and safety standards for the
industry. Organafill is an all-natural proprietary composite of organic and
inorganic materials, which provides an environmentally-friendly,
biologically-safe alternative to recycled-tire rubber and/or sand as an in-fill
for artificial turf.
Organafill, as an in-fill alternative, eliminates possible exposure to carcinogens,
respiratory exposure to toxic or irritant particulate from rubber dust or
silica-sand, ingestion of toxic chemicals by children, as well as run-off
contamination to the aquifer by these other in-fill materials.
In addition, every granule of Organafill is encapsulated with an effective,
durable, non-chemical, EPA registered anti-microbial agent which protects
against and prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi and mold. ProGreen is a
member of
GreenScapes™ and we support the efforts of the
EPA's Water Wise &
Water Sense programs. ProGreen adheres to the most
stringent testing of heavy metals, such as lead, in the industry. ProGreen
Grass products perform (in all respects) as well as, or better than the
ecologically-challenged products traditionally offered by our competitors. BUYER
BEWARE! Not all synthetic grass systems are created equal!
